In connection with the upcoming frost, the Latvian Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology (LVĜMC) has announced a yellow warning, which will be in effect on September 30 from 1 to 8 a.m.
LVĜMC warns that a frost may cause damage to plant species that are not resistant to frost, so plant protection measures should be taken if necessary to reduce the effects of frost, for example, covering plants or watering them in the evening before the expected frost.
At night, there will be few clouds in the sky, the wind will die down and the temperature will drop to -1…+4 degrees. It will be a little warmer only in some places on the coast.
Monday will start with mostly dry and sunny weather, but there will be rain in places. The wind will gradually die down. During the day, the temperature will rise to +15 degrees.
No precipitation is expected in Riga at night, there will be few clouds in the sky and a slow wind will blow. The air will cool down to +3..+5 degrees. It will be even colder in the suburbs. During the day, there will be a small amount of clouds and the air will warm up to +15 degrees.
Also on the night of October 1, frost is expected on the top layer of grass in many places in Latvia.
