Tel Aviv: Israel has brutally eliminated the top command of Lebanon’s Iran-backed extremist group Hezbollah one by one. The group suffered its biggest blow on Friday when Israel killed Hassan Nasrallah in an airstrike in his underground bunker. Before killing Nasrallah, Israel had already eliminated the entire top leadership of Hezbollah in a series of recent strikes.
The murder of Faud Shukar
On July 30 this year, Israel carried out a major airstrike in Beirut, in which it killed Hezbollah’s military chief Fouad Shukar. Fouad Shukar was killed by Israel in response to a rocket attack in the Druze area. 10 children playing football were killed in this attack. Shukar was considered very close to Nasrallah. He was the second-in-command in Hezbollah’s military organization after Nasrallah.

Israel killed top Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Akil in an airstrike in Beirut on Friday (September 20) last week. Aqeel was also second in command of Hezbollah. He reported directly to Nasrallah. There was a reward of 7 million dollars (58 crore Indian rupees) on Akil in the 1983 bomb blasts case. Along with Aqeel, Ahmed Wahabi, commander of the elite Radwan Force, was also killed in the attack.
Many commanders died along with Nasrallah
Ali Karaki, a Hezbollah southern front commander, was also killed in the strike along with Nasrallah on Friday. With the death of Ali Karaki, the entire leadership of Hezbollah, called the second-in-command, ended. When Israel targeted Hezbollah’s underground headquarters in Dahiyah, a southern suburb of Beirut, a meeting of top commanders was going on.
How was Nasrallah targeted?
Israel had received intelligence that Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah was about to reach the underground headquarters in Beirut. After this the plan of attack was prepared. 2000 kg and 1000 kg laser and GPS guided bunker buster bombs were used for the attack. These bombs first penetrated the ground and then exploded, which blew up Hezbollah’s 50 feet underground headquarters.
