After the Pilkhana massacre, BDR (now BGB) sacked members demanded reinstatement to their jobs, ’64 Districts Affected BDR Oikya 2009′. The organization also demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the BDR killing through a fair and impartial investigation. Those who have been imprisoned for 15 years in Explosives Act cases have been demanded to be granted bail as soon as possible.

Demand for reinstatement of sacked BDR members

These demands were given in a press conference at Tafazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of National Press Club on Friday (September 27).

The dismissed BDR member Saeed Ahmed Khan read a written statement on behalf of the organization at the press conference. He said that everyone involved in the murder and pre-planning should be given exemplary punishment through a fair and impartial investigation. At the same time, the innocent BDR members should be reinstated in their jobs with all government facilities.

He said that the new government was formed a few days ago. The new government needs to be given some more time for a fair investigation. The Home Affairs Advisor has already announced the formation of an inquiry committee to re-investigate the Pilkhana murder. We applaud such an initiative of the government.

Syed Ahmed Khan said, “We have noticed with deep concern and anxiety that on the 9th of last month, an organization under the banner of the so-called ‘BDR Welfare Council’ made a human chain in front of the journalists and claimed the innocence of 18,520 dismissed BDR members and made inconsistent statements. A 30-day ultimatum was given to the government in respect of the prisoners by issuing a memorandum. But, we do not morally support these claims.
