The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) explained that this phenomenon, although rare, is harmless and does not represent a significant danger.
According to the MARN, the cold air funnel It occurs when the air at altitude is unusually cold and is generally associated with showers or storms. This type of phenomena, known as cloud funnels rarely reach the ground, but if they do, they can become weak tornadoes, much less violent than traditional tornadoes.

“The funnel of cold air observed this afternoon is impressive, but it does not cause major damage. This phenomenon is characterized by being rare and short-lived, with a low possibility of hitting the ground,” the Ministry explained.
The funnel was visible from different parts of the city and quickly captured by witnesses who shared videos and images on social networks. Although visually striking, the MARN assured that it does not represent a considerable threat to the population.
