In a recent interview with local media, Machado explained that this situation arose after a meeting between González Urrutia and the brothers Jorge and Delcy Rodríguez, prominent leaders of the Venezuelan ruling party, at the residence of the Spanish ambassador in Caracas, where relevant documents were signed to his departure from the country.

Rodríguez Zapatero, who had been at the center of rumors about his role as mediator, confirmed his involvement, stating that “I participated in a facilitation task for his coming to Spain.” This statement came minutes before his participation in a literary event in Madrid, where he presented his book “Democracy and its Rights.”
