Cleric Hashem Safi al Din elected as the new secretary general of Hezbollah

Head of the Executive Committee of the Lebanese Shiite party Hezbollah, priest Hashem Safi al-Dinhas been chosen this Sunday as the general secretary of the political and military party, the Arab journalists of Al Arabiya reported.

According to the media, the Hezbollah council chose Safi al Din as the successor to his cousin Hasan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli bomb outside of Beirut last Saturday.
