Direct housing assistance program: 16,300 beneficiaries until July 2 (minister)

Presenting a presentation on housing policy in Morocco before the Committee on the Interior, Local Authorities, Housing and Urban Policy, the minister indicated that the value of acquired housing amounts to 6.3 billion dirhams.

A percentage of 44% of program beneficiaries are women, while 39% are young people under 35 and 22% are Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) having acquired housing worth 1, 6 billion dirhams, explained Ms. El Mansouri.

After highlighting that housing sector indicators have recorded an increase since the launch of the program, she noted that the number of authorized projects has increased by 16%, cement sales by 20%, housing loans by 1.5%, while loans intended for real estate developers of 3.8%, between May 2023 and May 2024.

Concerning the distribution of beneficiaries by region, the minister noted that the regions of Fez-Meknes, Casablanca-Settat and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra occupied the first ranks, while for the prefectures and provinces, the cities of Fez, Berrechid , Kenitra and Casablanca occupied the first five places, adding that 41% of beneficiaries acquired housing whose price is less than or equal to 300,000 dirhams.

Furthermore, the government official indicated that a total of 81,683 requests for housing assistance were registered until July 2, of which 89% are eligible, stressing that 39% of requests were presented by women, while that 20% were made by MREs and 37% were submitted by young people.

Ms. El Mansouri also recalled the various partnerships that were developed in order to successfully implement the program, citing the signing of an agreement with the Caisse de dépôt et de gestion (CDG) for the creation of a dedicated digital platform. to the management of the subsidy mechanism, the objective being to dematerialize and simplify procedures, control deadlines and improve management.

The various stakeholders, namely the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, the Ministry of the Interior and the National Agency for Land Conservation, Cadastre and Cartography (ANCFCC) have, for their part, carried out the exchange of data for good governance of the program, noted the minister, adding that participatory banks were also called upon to enable beneficiaries to acquire housing within the framework of a Murabaha contract.
