/ The state of Catalonia in Spain announced that it will move, starting next week, to the “pre-emergency” phase regarding the water available in reservoirs to mitigate the effects of drought, which will directly affect Barcelona’s first team players.

Mundo Deportivo newspaper revealed that one of the measures planned for January is to ban the use of washing and bathing water in gyms and sports centres.

There will be no exceptions to this decision, which will prevent Xavi and his team from showering after the matches they play at their Montjuïc stadium.

In an interview with Cadena Ser, Minister of Climate Change and Food David Mascourt said about whether Barcelona players will have to shower at home after their home matches: If you want us to continue irrigating the fields, they must do that or compensate for more than the water they consume.

Therefore, the Barcelona administration must compensate for the water consumption in the bathrooms at the match and training grounds, otherwise the players will shower at home in compliance with the general government measures.
