Kremlin philosopher and political scientist Alexander Dugin, widely known as the ideologist of the concept of “Eurasianism,” gave his assessment of the latest events in the Middle East. He noted that the region is on the verge of a full-scale war, which could become “biblical” in scope.

According to Dugin, Israel, in responding to the recent attacks, is not simply defending itself, but is actively taking actions that could lead to “genocide in Lebanon,” similar to what, according to him, is happening in Gaza. He expressed confidence that other Shiite countries and movements could join the conflict, which would ultimately involve Sunni states. Dugin does not rule out that nuclear weapons could be used during this confrontation.
The propagandist believes that Israel is waging war not only for reasons “related to the trauma of the Hamas attacks,” but also to change the demographic situation in the region. In his arguments, Dugin argues that Israeli society is an “ethno-religious island” among the surrounding Arab world, and believes that the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are aimed at “physically eliminating the Palestinians and pushing those who remain alive out of the country.” .
He also connects what is happening with the expectation of a religious end of the world, pointing to religious sentiments around Netanyahu. Dugin emphasized that the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and subsequent events can be perceived by Shiites as the fulfillment of eschatological prophecies.
The second reason for the war, according to Dugin, is related to geopolitics and the struggle for world hegemony. He calls the Middle East the second front after Ukraine, where Russia is fighting against the “Nazi regime of Kyiv” supported by the West. According to him, the West uses Israel as a tool in the confrontation with Islamic civilization, seeing it as an antagonist of its liberal values. In turn, Shiites represent the ideological vanguard force in the Islamic world, which makes them the main target of back-door attacks.
In his article, Dugin points to the possible expansion of the conflict into other regions, particularly Taiwan, where the West may try to increase its influence by relying on local allies such as Japan and South Korea.
