Speaking at the opening of the 31st congress of the Moroccan Bar Association, organized under the theme “the legal profession in Morocco, constant activism, compelling professional security and permanent African belonging”, Mr. Daki indicated that members of the defense contributed to establishing the democratic process and defending human rights and freedoms.

“The legal profession has played important roles in strengthening the patriotic spirit and the demand for the independence of Morocco,” he continued, noting that it has also contributed to the legislative dynamic, to through recommendations and proposals relating to a series of legal texts concerning fair trial guarantees and rights and freedoms, in close coordination with the various stakeholders in the field of justice.

In this context, the President of the Public Prosecutor’s Office highlighted the importance of the legal profession, which “contributes greatly to establishing justice, preserving rights and guaranteeing the principle of the primacy of the law within the framework of universal principles of justice”, which thus made it possible to give the lawyer the place that belongs to him.

The 31st congress of the Moroccan Bar Association constitutes “an opportunity to unify visions on major issues serving the interests of justice in our country”, so as to enable the legal profession to fulfill the missions which it requires. are incumbent on the defense of rights and freedoms, he said, saying he was convinced that the reform of the justice system requires the involvement of all its components.

Furthermore, he called for more synergy and cooperation between Moroccan lawyers and their brother African counterparts, with a view to achieving complementarity and integration in defense matters on an African scale.

Hosted by the Order of Lawyers of the Courts of Appeal of Agadir, Guelmim and Laâyoune, the 31st congress of the Moroccan Bar Association, which continues until November 26, aims to strengthen relations between all components of the justice family, with a view to improving the services provided to litigants.

This event, which is part of the commemoration of the 47th anniversary of the glorious Green March and the 67th anniversary of independence, constitutes an opportunity to take stock of the reality of the legal profession and to discuss on the various challenges and constraints of the profession, which requires a high level of firmness and vigilance.

The work of this three-day conclave, in which representatives of lawyer bodies from several Arab and foreign countries participate, will be marked by the organization of workshops in the form of thematic commissions, from which a series of recommendations emanate, as well as the Dakhla Declaration.
