Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, a member of the BNP’s standing committee, said that the country has not yet had an election, and has not been able to establish people’s right to vote. People’s rights will be established through elections. On behalf of BNP, I will call on everyone regardless of party affiliation, caste and religion to contribute to a fair and free election.
He said these things after paying homage at the shrine of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman on Sunday (September 29).
Gayeshwar said that the current interim government is not the government of any political party. It is a product of movement. Those who are in the government today, the chief adviser. Everyone including Yunus is apolitical. We believe that they will facilitate the course of democracy without interfering in political matters. Hold an election as soon as possible to usher in democracy. The new path of democracy will start in Bangladesh through the participation of all people in that election.
In response to a question from journalists, Gayeshwar said, “I believe that the current interim government will realize that injustice has been done to Khaleda Zia and Tariq Rahman for political revenge.” After being in exile for a long time, Tariq Rahman has been able to organize the nation by working day and night. Today he has managed to cross the boundaries of BNP to become the leader of the nation. So the government will withdraw the cases and sentences which have been unjustly imposed against the leader of this nation. If that is not done, it will be very sad for the nation.
This former minister of BNP said, I hope this government will spare us from appearing in these cases by taking into account the agitations and struggles of all. And if we have to appear in these cases now, it will be sad.
Gayeshwar said, “There are some incidents here.” There are also some rumors. The defeated forces of August 5 did not sit down. They will try to sabotage. However, on behalf of BNP, we will guard various areas as per the instructions of the Acting Chairman of BNP. If anyone from BNP fails there, appropriate action will be taken against him.
Abdus Salam, member of BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council, BNP Volunteer Affairs Adviser Mir Sharafat Ali Safu and many others were present at the time.
