Governor Shim had a meeting with National Assemblyman Jeong Eul-ho (Education Committee) from Gochang this morning and announced the following: △International Canoe Slalom Stadium Construction Project (KRW 20 billion), West Coast Sunset Drive Construction Project (Gusipo) (KRW 10 billion), and Disaster Risk Reservoir Maintenance Project (KRW 5.8 billion). ) and other major pending projects and requested that efforts be made to provide government funding.

The International Canoe Slalom Stadium Construction Project is the first project in Korea to build a canoe stadium in the salt farm site of Simwon-myeon, where large-scale private investment is being made. This is an essential project as it not only expands the base of daily sports by attracting various competitions and establishing seasonal programs, but also provides various leisure activities to tourists in connection with Gochang General Theme Park, which is scheduled to be completed in 2029.

The West Coast Sunset Drive Development Project (Gusipo) is a project to create night landscape lighting and a sunset observatory in the Myeongsasimni area. It is an essential project to create the best sunset landmark on the West Coast in connection with the construction of Noeul Bridge and the creation of a large-scale tourist complex in the Myeongsasimni area.

In addition, Governor Shim, who had a meeting with National Assembly member Lee Seong-yoon (Legislative and Judiciary Committee) from Gochang, suggested reflecting new projects such as the fisheries resources spawning and habitat creation project (KRW 5 billion) and the disaster risk reservoir maintenance project (KRW 5.8 billion).

In particular, it was proposed to provide financial support for five regions, including Gochang, which are excluded from the government’s adjustment grant despite being a radiation emergency planning area and requiring a budget for radiation disaster prevention measures.

Lastly, through a meeting with National Assembly member Won-taek Lee (secretary of the Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee), the approval of the strategic environmental impact assessment of △ the fisheries resources spawning and habitat creation project (KRW 5 billion) and △ the Noeul Bridge (National Road 77) construction project was obtained. We requested that efforts be made to reflect the total project cost in the original plan.
