by time news

Golden Eagles and Deportivo Pereira could not go beyond a draw in the match that marked the beginning of matchday 12 of the Liga Betplay 2024-II, held at the Arturo Cumplido Sierra stadium. It ended 1-1 with goals from Jeisson Quiñones and José Moya.

In the first half, the Golden Eagles generated the first chance of the game around the 10th minute. Jesús David Rivas took a right-footed shot from inside the box that he aimed at the opposite post of goalkeeper Salvador Ichazo, but the ball barely went past the side of the Matecaña goal.

By the 22nd minute, Pereira had its first dangerous chance in a play where Carlos Darwin Quintero passed the ball to Nicolás Giraldo, and the left-back fired a left-footed shot that hit several opponents before reaching José Contreras.

Four minutes later, the visitors almost took the lead. Darwin crossed the ball and found Sebastián Acosta, who took a point-blank shot that Contreras saved wonderfully, and then Pereira scored, but it was all ruled out for offside. Around the 28th minute, the Golden Eagles were reduced to ten men after the expulsion of Mateo Puerta for a harsh foul on Acosta.

By the 41st minute, despite having ten players, the Golden Eagles went on the attack and tried to score with Jorge Ramos, who received a cross from Rivas, but when heading the ball, the forward collided with Ichazo, and the ball went out of play.

Before the end of the first half, the Sincelejo team took the lead. Jeisson Quiñones was fouled inside the box by Jean Pestaña, and the referee awarded a penalty, which Quiñones converted brilliantly.

In the second half, Pereira made some changes and was able to dominate possession while also creating the best chances of the game. Around the 60th minute, Quintero nearly equalized with a right-footed shot from the edge of the box that barely missed the side of Contreras’ goal.

After several attempts, Pereira managed to tie the game with José Moya, who unintentionally got in the way of a free kick taken by Yuber Quiñones, and this deflection left goalkeeper Contreras helpless as he was unable to prevent the goal.

Up until the 85th minute, Golden Eagles had another dangerous opportunity, this time with Jhon Fredy Salazar, who took a free kick that just went past the side of Ichazo’s goal.

In the end, neither club had a clear opportunity to avoid the draw in Sincelejo. With this result, the Golden Eagles move up to seventh place with 16 points, while Pereira is 14th with 11 units.
