Individual entrepreneurs have ceased to be registered in Minsk from 17 August 2021. One of the reasons for this was the radical changes that were to come, but there was no official explanation for this decision.
It is worth noting that it was then that the idea arose to establish a clear grading of the categories of small and medium-sized businesses, that is, self-employed people, individual entrepreneurs and micro-enterprises.
At the same time, in other regions of Belarus, the registration of individual entrepreneurs was not suspended.
For more than three years, the government has reformed the activities of small businesses. In particular, for individual entrepreneurs and self-employed people, a new list of activities appears that can be done in this status. From October 1, 2024, the registration of individual entrepreneurs whose activities are not included in the list will be terminated. And existing entrepreneurs will be allowed to work until January 1, 2026, after which they will have to transfer to a legal entity.
