The website of the International Judo Federation ijf.org, which talks about the World Youth Judo Championship, which will be held in Tajikistan, also noted the Azerbaijani athlete Vusal Galandarzade.

As reported by İdman.biz, the article states:

“The 2024 World Junior Judo Championships starts on October 2 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. 539 judokas from 67 countries are registered to participate in individual competitions, and 17 teams are also registered for the final day of judo competitions in the Tajik capital.

The 2023 world junior champions Melkia Ochkorn (France) in the up to 63 kg weight category, Vusal Galandarzadeh (Azerbaijan) in the up to 73 kg weight category and Komei Kawabata (Japan) in the up to 90 kg weight category will try to defend their titles. All of them maintained their positions at the top of the world rankings throughout the year.

Galandarzadeh is also the reigning European Junior Champion after dominating his category in Tallinn just four weeks ago. Kawabata has not competed in junior competition since last year’s Odivelas meets, but has gained plenty of experience since Japan selected him to compete on the World Judo Tour.

All three of these judokas are world number one – three of the 12 featured on the entry list. Of the 12, two represent Azerbaijan, two represent Italy, two represent Brazil and one each represents the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Georgia, France, Japan and Canada, that is, three continents are represented in first place.”
