Father of Assaulted 14-Year-Old Speaks Out: ‘Her Mental Health is Severely Affected’

by time news

The father of the 14-year-old girl spoke about the condition of his minor daughter after the brutal beating she suffered in Glyfada, noting that her psychology is burdened.

According to the father of the 14-year-old, the minor has not gone to school since the incident in Glyfada, however, she has expressed her desire to return. However, according to him, he does not know if she is capable of doing so. “She talks daily with psychologists and child psychiatrists. She is not well; her psychological state is burdened. This affects the whole family. We are quite distressed and tired since Saturday night; the balance and function of the household have been disturbed. We are upset, saddened, and almost sleepless,” he said speaking to Action24.

He then noted that “there is a fear that overwhelms her regarding contact and interaction with her peers,” concerning the possibility of returning to school. “This is something we need to manage but it is very fresh. This trauma is something that causes us worry and sadness,” he added.

“We had this image although the bullying regime for it to exist is ‘We don’t talk; we solve it among ourselves.’ Our child had confided situations she was experiencing, which is why in May 2024 we reported to her school behaviors of severe bullying, verbal, psychological violence, and the unbearable press she faced both within and outside school.

“It was the same faces; the same perpetrators were those we reported. The school administration took appropriate action and we thank them because one of the two left the school. I even want to publicly thank the Ministry of Education because along with the school, they have supported us from the very beginning,” he added regarding the events that led to the beating.

“The schools closed; the children stopped their daily contact. As soon as we returned, with tremendous fury and anger due to the complaint, they made an initial call in a closed Instagram group, they found her and attacked her again, hitting her similarly to the attack on September 21 but in a slightly milder context again. Spitting, insults, throwing drinks at her, telling her, ‘You’re lucky we’re not burning you.

“We have a lighter and we will burn you alive.’ They tore her shirt and bra. At that moment, we decided to handle it with understanding. They got angry because we reported the bullying that our child faced. This behavior from those children is vindictive,” he concluded.
