Nairobi: The African Summit on Fertilizers and Soil Health begins its work with the participation of Morocco

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, represents HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, at this Summit which will focus in particular on the Nairobi Declaration on fertilizers and soil health in Africa.

The Moroccan delegation is composed in particular of the Ambassador, Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation, Mohamed Methqal, the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Morocco to the African Union (AU) and the UNECA, Mohamed Arrouchi and the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Kenya, Abderrazzak Laassel.

Organized by the African Union and the Kenyan government, the Summit aims to highlight the crucial role of fertilizers and soil health in stimulating sustainable and pro-poor African agricultural growth.

In addition to the Nairobi Declaration, the event is expected to result in the adoption of a Ten-Year Action Plan which would provide concrete recommendations on measures to be taken over the next ten years, as well as a framework for the Initiative of soils for Africa.

The Summit will provide a comprehensive review of the state of soil health in Africa and propose solutions to readjust the strategies deployed to boost soil productivity, for higher and more sustainable yields, at the service of the African citizen .
