(V.ANSA: Urso in Kenya, ‘Italy… at 10:02) (ANSA) – NAIROBI, 01 OCT – “Italy and Kenya together to prepare Africa for space exploration”, this is the motto launched by the Minister of Business and Made In Italy (Mimit), Adolfo Urso, after this morning’s visit to the “Luigi Broglio” space center in Malindi, where he inaugurated the museum dedicated to its creator.
As reported by Mimit, the minister was accompanied by the president of the Italian Space Agency (ASI) Teodoro Valente, by General Franco Federici, military advisor to the Prime Minister and secretary of the Interministerial Committee for Space and by a delegation of the main Italian companies of the aerospace sector.
Urso chaired a meeting with the Kenyan Defense Minister, Soipan Tuya, for the relaunch of the space center.
The base, managed by ASI, and the adjoining international training school in space disciplines, could become the fulcrum, within the Mattei Plan, of space cooperation extended to the countries of the Horn of Africa and East Africa. The Italian Space Agency “could also train the first Kenyan, and therefore African, astronaut in history, with the same methods with which Italian astronauts are trained today” declared Urso.
