Lachyn and Irpen became sister cities

A document was signed on brotherhood between cities Lachin and Irpin.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Trend, a visit of the Ukrainian delegation to the city of Lachin took place. The delegation was met by representatives of the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Lachin region.

The purpose of the visit was to sign a memorandum on the twinning of the cities of Lachin and Irpin.

The meeting, held in the Lachin region, was attended by the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Lachin region Masim Mamedovmembers of the Ukrainian delegation, mayor of the city of Irpen Oleksandr MarkushinFirst Secretary of the Ukrainian Embassy in the Republic of Azerbaijan Andrey Onishchenko.

A corresponding memorandum was signed between the special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Masim Mamedov, and the mayor of the city of Irpen, Alexander Markushin. Also, as a sign of brotherhood, the parties presented each other with gifts. According to the memorandum, the participants will cooperate through the exchange of information and experience in the field of preservation of historical and cultural heritage, urban planning, environmental protection, landscaping, public transport, information technology, energy efficiency, waste management, youth and sports.

Then the delegation got acquainted with the city of Lachin. The guests visited the library, secondary school No. 2 of the city of Lachin, the Hoçazfilm filming pavilion, the Gilabi creative center and the kindergarten of the village of Sus.

“Today is a special day. Today we are opening a new page in the development of our relations. There will be many joint projects, cultural exchanges, and economic initiatives ahead. We will learn from each other and contribute to the exchange of future experience, including in building effective joint work “, said the mayor of Irpen, Alexander Markushin, in an interview with the media.

According to him, the support of the Azerbaijani people is invaluable for Ukraine.

Markushin recalled that, on a special order from the President of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani government, together with the SOCAR company, quickly restored important buildings in Irpen, in particular Lyceum No. 12 named after Zarifa Aliyeva, and the city clinic.

Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Masim Mamedov said in an interview with reporters that today’s meeting is of great importance.

“Today a memorandum was signed to establish sister-city ties between the cities of Lachin and Irpen. The signing of the memorandum is aimed at close relations between the parties and the establishment of friendly relations. These ties will also contribute to the development in the economic, cultural, tourist and educational spheres between the communities of the cities. Within the framework connections between cities, trips of sports and artistic groups will be provided, an exchange of views will be held in the field of organizing photo exhibitions reflecting the life of cities, and city management practices,” M. Mamedov noted.

According to him, out of the 100 thousand population of Irpen, more than 3 thousand are Azerbaijanis.

“Of course, the role of our community in the development of fraternal ties in the future is also exceptional. This will allow our compatriots living there to monitor the processes of restoration and development taking place in our liberated territories,” M. Mamedov noted.
