FDD announced on Tuesday that it conducted operations against “members of radical Internet groups” in 78 regions of Russia. “Preventive and investigative measures” against 252 persons, of which 156 are minors.
A total of 39 persons aged between 14 and 35 were detained. The FDD claims that they are “supporters of the activities of Ukrainian terrorist organizations banned in Russia, which have encouraged children and teenagers to commit violence against representatives of state institutions, classmates and teachers.”
The FDD also alleges that nine minors were involved in preparing armed attacks on educational and religious institutions, as well as other public places. Firearms, ammunition, materials for making bombs, as well as “symbolism and propaganda materials of terrorist organizations” were allegedly confiscated during the searches.
Allegedly, the correspondence in the messaging program “Discord” with “Ukrainian curators” was also discovered. The FDD claims that the correspondence contained instructions for acts of sabotage and terrorism, as well as plans for armed attacks.
