Without president for a month, the Lega Calcio risks being commissioned

Time.news – Yet another nothing done for the election of new president of Lega Serie A. Paolo Dal Pino has now resigned a month ago and the date of the commissioner, March 24, is approaching dangerously. The 20 clubs of the top league, gathered in Milan, were unable to find an agreement and the vote for the appointment of the president was postponed to the assembly on 11 March.

Today’s should have been the third vote, after the two black smokes of February 7 (17 white ballots and two null ballots) and February 15 (19 white ballots and one vote for the president of Confindustria Carlo Bonomi). The candidates on the field, after Bonomi’s step back, are three: the former Rai CEO Mauro Masi, the economist Lorenzo Bini Smaghi and the head of the cabinet of the Ministry of Culture Lorenzo Casini.

Today the assembly should have listened to them, but only Casini presented himself to what has been learned. Finding the right team will not be easy: in addition to the lack of participation of Bini Smaghi and Masi today, there are doubts about the eligibility of Masi and Casini himself due to the work they have done in the public administration and in public companies.

Coming out of the meeting, the vice president of Udinese, Stefano Campoccia, argued that the date of 11 March “should be the right one” for the election of the president of the League, “also because then we are approaching the deadline”, given that the commissioner would start on 24 March. “It would be the limit if we did it in a row,” he added.
