In the next five years, the Internet of Things will connect about a billion devices. This was stated by the head of the Competence Center “Internet of Things” PJSC “MTS” Mikhail Matveev in his speech at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum. According to him, the achievement of such goals is impossible without cooperation with China, one of the world leaders in the production of electronics. Matveev also emphasized that by 2025 the Internet of Things market will contribute to the sustainable development of the economy and will account for a significant share of GDP.

The Chinese corporation Huawei demonstrates the successful implementation of digital services. Among them are precise positioning, automated digital testing, augmented reality for a remote expert, as well as the use of unmanned drones. The use of digital technologies, explained Matveev, allowed to reduce losses from downtime by 10%.

Russian companies are also working in this direction. MTS, Matveev notes, is actively offering cloud technologies for use, and also plans to provide services to industrial enterprises. Work in this area is in line with the goals set by the Russian government in 2021. The expert recalled that the authorities decided to introduce electronics and develop appropriate equipment. The development of the component and material base is also very important, Matveev concluded.

The Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum takes place from 2 to 4 March. The main topic this year is Siberia: the economy of the future.
