Baku Climate Action Week is a key event towards COP29.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Trend, this was stated by the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva at the international conference within the framework of Climate Action Week in Baku.

“Following the announcement of Azerbaijan as the host of the COP29 conference, active mobilization of all representatives of various sectors began to combat climate change. In this process, Azerbaijan is working closely with the UN, the COP29 Presidency team, the government, civil society, development partners, the scientific community and youth .

One of the key initiatives I’m particularly proud of has been our flagship projects – 29 climate talks with leading experts in the field. Also a key event on the way to COP29 is the Baku Climate Action Week,” she said.

It should be noted that the Week of Action runs from September 30 to October 4, 2024 and is being held in Baku for the first time.

The event will form the basis of the climate agenda ahead of COP29 in Baku in November.

Climate Action Week will bring together key stakeholders from a range of sectors such as politics, finance, trade, investment, science, arts, culture, civil society and media.

The main themes of this event are “energy transition”, “cities and urban environments”, “water security”, “food and agriculture”, “SMEs” and “green skills”.

The first half of the week (September 30 – October 2) will focus on climate solutions involving government agencies, academia and the private sector. In the second half (October 3-4), the emphasis will be on science, education, art, culture and other sectors.
