The Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Galin Tsokov, launched the Bulgarian state team championships in chess for juniors and girls. This was announced by the press center of the ministry.
“You play a sport that develops your critical thinking. Today on the chess board you solve problems that you will face tomorrow in life”, the minister addressed the young contestants. He wished them to apply critical and creative thinking in the classrooms and study not only for exams, but to prepare for “This is how we want to change the Bulgarian education system – to develop creativity and skills for solving problems from real life,” the minister pointed out.
The State Chess Team Championships of Bulgaria for juniors and girls will continue until October 6. 120 competitors from 15 leading clubs from all over the country are participating, divided into three age groups – up to 10, 14 and 18 years.
The organizers are the Chess XXI Chess Club – Sofia and the Bulgarian Chess Federation 2022 with the assistance of the CSKA Chess Club – Sofia.
