In their announcement, they wrote that the weekend’s program includes an adventure bus ride, a parade, a rolling exhibition, and a special motorcycle launch, with which they pay tribute to one of the most well-known and successful Hungarian brands.

The Aviation Cultural Center, Volánbusz Zrt., BKV Zrt., the Transport Museum and their partners will parade the defining buses of Hungarian vehicle production and transport history in the airport museum for the sixth time – they reminded.

They recalled that Ikarus is one of the world-famous brand names of Hungarian industry: in the 1970s and 1980s, it played a decisive role not only in the countries of the Eastern Bloc, but also on the world market. In addition to urban and long-distance public transport, the various Ikarus buses were also frequent at the Ferihegy airport for decades, they added.

Attention was drawn to the fact that among the old buses, the “faros” with a special line have the largest fan base, so during the day the Ikarus 55s will be used for the adventure bus ride, and the shuttle service will be provided by the 200,000th copy of the 200 family at Népliget and Aeropark between. The Ikarus 55 was one of the factory’s best-known and most successful long-distance and tourist bus types, it was also called “Faros” and “Bözsi”, this name was due to its characteristic rear engine section, they highlighted.

According to the information, the double-decker “Bikarusz” restored by Volánbusz, which was created at the end of the 1960s by combining two buses, will move into the Aeropark for the weekend. Next to it, the public can see the Ikarus 30, which was the very first model of the factory, the Ikarus 60, which is considered the first model with a trailer, is on display, the first articulated model can be viewed, and right-hand drive and electric buses are also on offer – they listed.

They explained that in addition to the exhibition, they are preparing for a parade on Sunday from 4:00 p.m.: the convoy of almost eighty buses will go back and forth along the Vecsés-Ecser connecting road, with police protection, starting from the Aeropark, offering a rare photo opportunity. Most of the vehicles can be viewed inside and out, and in the passenger compartment of several buses, an exhibition on the history of transportation will be waiting for those interested, they wrote.

The program can be visited on both days between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The organizers recommend that visitors arrive at the Aeropark using public transport, the announcement states.
