Chamber of Deputies announces reform opinion on strategic state companies

The Chamber of Deputies gave publicity, this Sunday, to the opinion that reforms articles 25, 27 and 28 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States regarding strategic companies.

The opinion states that the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) y Mexican Petroleum (Pemex) will be “public companies of the State” and will have prevalence or preponderance over private companies for distribution.

The proposal, which was sent since last February by the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador and approved in August by the previous Legislature, indicates that the State will assume responsibility for the energy transition, implementing policies to reduce polluting emissions and promote the sustainable use of national energy sources.

In this sense, the planning and state control of the National Electrical Serviceso supply is guaranteed to the entire value chain with a focus on security and energy self-sufficiency.
