Britain announced that the army will start distributing fuel at stations starting Monday, after a shortage of tanker drivers led to citizens rushing to buy fuel and prompted the government to exempt foreign drivers from visas .
The British government said in a new statement: “Around 200 members of a number of military tankers, including 100 drivers, will be deployed from Monday to provide temporary support as part of the government’s wider move to relieve pressure on gas stations and address the heavy truck driver shortage.”
British Business Minister Kwasi Kwarteng said: “Thanks to the huge efforts of the fuel sector over the past week, we are seeing continued signs that the situation at the stations is slowly improving.”
He said: “It is important to stress that there is no fuel shortage in the UK at a national level, and citizens must continue to buy fuel as normal. The sooner we return to our normal buying pattern, the better. the faster we will be able to return to normal.”
Since the start of the week, cars have been queuing in front of gas stations across Britain, depleting their stocks and angering drivers.
