The anthology produced by the Association of “Argentine Poets Friends of Morocco” (PAAM) brings together around fifty texts in prose or verse, written from a truly innovative focus. It offers an eminently Argentinian look at around ten pictorial works by Moroccan artists which depict scenes from daily life in Morocco.

The idea of the anthology, presented Monday evening at the Alliance Française in Buenos Aires, was applauded by a large audience made up of diplomats, writers, artists and journalists.

The Moroccan ambassador to Argentina, Mr. Fares Yassir, recounted the adventures of this collective work “which married” the talent of Moroccan painters and the literary sensitivity of Argentine writers.

The Moroccan diplomat welcomed the result of this “marriage” thanks to the passion, creativity and fertile imagination of Argentine writers, who knew how to interpret in the most beautiful way the messages conveyed by the works of Moroccan artists. .

The coordinator of the anthology, the writer Mariela Palermo, indicated that this work is an “invitation to the reader for a journey through Morocco”, adding that the writers, who are foreign to the Moroccan cultural context, managed to take up “the challenge” of drawing inspiration from the paintings of Moroccan painters to establish a dialogue between the arts of Argentina and Morocco.

She recalled that this anthology, the third of its kind since 2021 driven by the Moroccan embassy in Argentina, brought together the works of fifty writers among the 90 who are members of the PAAM, welcoming the fact that the vast majority of provinces from Argentina are represented within the association.

Mariela Palermo then read a text inspired by the painting painted by a Moroccan artist entitled “the public writer”.

The presentation of this anthology was followed by a debate with the public on the circumstances which led to the development of this anthology and its next translation into the Arabic language.
