In the first attack on the Lebanese capital since the beginning of the recent Israeli war on Hezbollah, the Israeli army targeted, in the early hours of Monday morning, a residential apartment within a building consisting of several floors, in the Al-Kula area in Beirut.

Yesterday, Sunday, the Israeli army launched dozens of new raids on sites in Lebanon. The Israeli raids targeted a civil defense center and ambulance crews in the towns of Tairdiba and Qabrikha in southern Lebanon, killing 7 paramedics. The Israeli raids targeted the city of Hermel in eastern Lebanon, including various areas of The Bekaa Valley and the vicinity of the city of Baalbek, while Israeli artillery intensified its bombardment of southern Lebanese towns.
In a related context, Israel renewed, at dawn on Monday, its targeting of the “Jdeidet Yabous” border crossing between Syria and Lebanon.
Sputnik Agency reported, “The Israeli raid targeted a building near the Jdeidet Yabus “Al-Masna” crossing on the Syrian-Lebanese border, coinciding with a large crowding at the crossing for displaced persons arriving to Syria.”
She added, “Initial information indicates that injuries were recorded within the targeted building near the border crossing.”
109 people were killed and 364 others were injured during the past 24 hours, as a result of Israeli raids on various areas in Lebanese territory, bringing the death toll in Lebanon since the start of the confrontations between Israel and Hezbollah on October 8 last to 1,673.
In this context, Israeli media reported that “the Israeli army is completing its preparations for a ground invasion of Lebanon amid pressure from Northern Command officials to begin the ground operation.”
“Haaretz” newspaper said, “Senior officials in the Israeli army’s Northern Command are pressing for the beginning of a ground invasion of Lebanon,” while the “Wala” website reported that “the Israeli army is completing important operations within the framework of preparations for a ground invasion of Lebanon.”
The website quoted Israeli security officials confirming that there is “a consensus at the political and military levels that a ground invasion of Lebanon is a matter of time.”
The security sources stated, “We are collecting intelligence information regarding Hezbollah’s preparations, especially the Radwan Force, before the ground entry, and based on that, we are preparing new operational plans to make changes in southern Lebanon and the region.”
The sources confirmed that “the forces are concentrated on the northern front and are preparing for a ground entry into Lebanon.”
In turn, the Israeli army stressed, “We are continuing to receive training at the firing sites on the northern front, and civilians will be prohibited from entering them.”
On the other hand, Hezbollah announced that “it targeted an Israeli infantry force in the Al-Sadah site with artillery shells, and confirmed that they achieved direct hits.”
She said in a statement: “In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their valiant and honorable resistance, and in defense of Lebanon and its people, the Mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance targeted, at 01:50 am on Monday 09/30/2024, a force “Israeli infantrymen fired artillery shells at the Al-Sadah site and achieved direct hits.”
The Israeli army said, “More than a million Israelis ran in search of shelters to escape missiles fired by Hezbollah.”
In a related context, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “Israel struck the Houthis and everyone sees the goals and the price incurred by anyone who attacks Israel.”
He continued in a joint press conference with Minister Gideon Sa’ar: “Sa’ar to the government will contribute to managing the war.”
In turn, Gideon Saar said: “We are fighting a fierce war… difficult days await us… the dangers are not over yet.”
