A delegation from the General Secretariat of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) made an official visit to the capital, Tripoli, to discuss enhancing security cooperation with the Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity within the “Gemini” project, which aims to enhance security and safety on the borders.
According to what the Libyan Ministry of Interior reported, the visit comes within the framework of strengthening international cooperation in the field of combating organized crime and terrorism.
The delegation began its official visit with a visit to the Tripoli seaport port and the Mitiga International Airport port, where prospects for cooperation in linking Libyan ports with the international organization were discussed.
On the sidelines of the visit, the head of the International Arab Criminal Police Office, Major General Nour El-Din Al-Shaalali, held a meeting with members of the delegation to follow up on the work progress of the office, identify the problems and difficulties facing it, develop appropriate solutions to them, and accelerate achievement.
The importance of international cooperation in combating organized crime and terrorism was also reviewed, and the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to strengthening its partnerships with international organizations was emphasized.
For its part, the Interpol delegation expressed its appreciation for the efforts made by the Ministry of Interior in Libya, stressing the importance of the international organization’s support for these efforts to achieve security and stability in the country.
