The deceased pilots Ventsislav Dunkin and Petko Dimitrov chose to save others from the falling training plane over their own salvation by ejecting.

In such situations, the crew must steer the aircraft in a safe direction. We should thank these guys for fulfilling their duty in their last seconds – they directed the plane, but they didn’t have time to eject, explained to BNT Colonel Prof. Dimitar Nedyalkov, a teacher at the Military Academy.

When we talk about such catastrophes, the causes are primary, immediate and collateral. This is one of the main reasons – disruption of the flight path. Here, for inexplicable reasons, it is violated, and then it becomes extremely difficult to get out of this situation, the reserve colonel explained.

He disagreed with Acting Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov that the raid by the two pilots was sufficient. Last year it was 100 hours, and this year – 60. During his active career as a pilot, Colonel Nedyalkov had over 2,000 hours in the sky, with over 1,000 of them in the first 10 years.

According to Nedyalkov, the world is in a state of “global military conflict”, and the command of the Bulgarian army suffers from an accumulation of mistakes, such as the closing of the air clubs, the closing of the national carrier “Balkan”.

I am not sure that the Bulgarian air force can perform the planned tasks, the colonel pointed out.

He explained that our country does not meet NATO’s requirements for flight hours and equipment.
