Mahmoud Abbas, president of Palestine, declared that “the whole world is responsible for what happens to our people in Gaza and the West Bank“, during a General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
Almost a year after the war in Gaza, with more than 41 thousand fatalities, Abbas urged the arrest of “genocide”and stressed that “this madness cannot continue.” In addition, he demanded that the sale of weapons to Israel be stopped, condemning the violence it carries out.
Among the statements, the president criticized the United States, “the largest democracy in the world,” calling it veto resolutions of the Security Council calling for a ceasefire, as well as supplying deadly weapons to Israel.
“The US was left alone and said: ‘No, let the fighting continue.’ He used his veto, and worse yet, he provided Israel with deadly weapons “They killed thousands of civilians,” he stressed.
Likewise, he revealed his intention to request the expulsion of Israel from the UN, arguing that the country has not complied with resolutions since 1949 and proposed an international conference under the auspices of the organization and thus move towards a two-state solution.
Finally, Abbas presented a twelve-point plan for the postwar period in Gaza, which includes the request for “international protection for the Palestinians”, although it did not go into further details.
