US Vice President Kamala Harris condemned the “reckless and brazen” Iranian missile attack, which once again demonstrates that Tehran is a “destabilizing, dangerous force” in the Middle East.
In a statement to reporters, Harris said she supported US President Joe Biden’s decision to order the US military to shoot down Iranian missiles aimed at Israel, as he did in April.
Early indications are that “Israel, with our help, was able to repel this attack,” Harris said, noting that the countries’ joint defense helped save many innocent lives.
“I will always ensure that Israel has the ability to defend itself against Iran and Iran-backed terrorist militias. My commitment to Israel’s security is unwavering,” she continued.
“Iran poses a threat not only to Israel, but also to American personnel in the region, American interests, and innocent civilians throughout the region who suffer at the hands of terrorist proxies based and supported by Iran,” Harris added. “We will not hesitate to take any action necessary to protect American forces and interests from Iran and the terrorists it supports, and we will continue to work with our allies and partners to stop Iran’s aggressive behavior and hold it accountable.”
