A scandal erupted in France after President Emmanuel Macron fired the director of the Directorate General for External Security (DGSE), Bernard Emier. Local media cite dissatisfaction with intelligence work in the South Caucasus as the reason for the dismissal.

As Day.Az reports, the Baku Burila telegram channel writes about this with reference to the Intelligence Online publication, which is associated with French military intelligence.

According to information, Emier lost his position due to the failures of the French intelligence services in Azerbaijan.

Let us recall that in Baku the center of French intelligence officers, which coordinated work throughout the post-Soviet space, was liquidated; some French agents ended up behind bars.

Note that Bernard Emier headed the DGSE from 2017 to 2023, and will now take the post of chairman of the advisory board of Défense Conseil International, a French company specializing in the export of military knowledge and training. Aimier previously served as French ambassador to Turkey and Algeria, and also held other senior diplomatic positions.
