Coca Cola is moving ahead with layoffs and closing facilities across the Germany.

In a statement issued yesterday, the drinks industry giant said it will close its production and logistics facilities in Cologne.

Production at the plant will cease on March 31, 2025, with 289 of a total of 602 workers affected. The rest of the staff will be transferred to “other facilities”.

The group is also closing logistics facilities in Neuminster, Hohenschönhausen in Berlin, Bielefeld and Memmingen.

Coca-Cola has four production plants in western Germany.

The move is also justified by changes in beverage logistics. Large retail partners are increasingly switching from direct delivery to delivery via central warehouse, while smaller customers are increasingly ordering through wholesalers.
