Chungju City won three Healthy City Awards. Chungju City won a total of three awards, including the WHO Healthy City Award, Korea Healthy City Award, and AFHC Creative Development Award, at the 10th Western Pacific Alliance for Healthy Cities (AFHC) International Conference and the 19th Annual General Meeting of the Korea Healthy Cities Council held in Seoul, respectively. The WHO (World Health Organization) Healthy City Award is an award given to Western Pacific member cities (189) to cities that have implemented excellent policies in each field suggested by WHO. The award was given in recognition of the efforts made in the field of climate change response through the ‘Ecological Healthy City with Beautiful Parks and Gardens’ policy, including this coexisting ecological city and a healthy city led by citizens.

The Korea Healthy City Award is a contest to discover and disseminate best health policy cases of 103 member cities of the Korea Healthy Cities Council. Chungju City promoted ‘Chungju, a healthy city where people want to walk’ by building various walking infrastructure such as barefoot paths and △Walk-On. The walking revitalization project using was highly evaluated and won the Korea Healthy City Excellence Award.

In particular, the Korea Healthy City Award was awarded for the second consecutive year following the previous year.

The AFHC Creative Development Award is awarded to the Western Pacific Alliance of Healthy Cities (AFHC) under the World Health Organization in the field of action plans for citizen health in cities, promoting walking using mobile devices and universalizing health promotion programs through ZOOM. Won the AFHC Creative Development Award in the M-Healthcare System category.

Chungju City has been striving for a sustainable healthy city by promoting the ‘1 department, 1 health policy’ to include health in all policies through collaboration across all departments, building customized health infrastructure, and creating an urban forest.
