Former national rhythmic gymnast Elvira Krasnobayeva stated that her decision to leave Bulgaria was not related to sports.

“It’s quite a difficult decision, but it basically has nothing to do with the rhythmic gymnastics federation. There is another reason – we are moving due to family circumstances. The truth is that I will compete for Armenia. We needed an option where we could live in Russia and we found it – I will live and train in Russia, but I will represent Armenia. My decision is not related to financial issues, as well as the fact that I did not go to the Olympic Games in Paris,” said Elvira Krasnobayeva in a radio interview Varna.

A few days ago, with a post on social networks, Grace announced that she was changing her nationality. The management board of the Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation removed the gymnast from the national team, stopped her funding, and announced that she owes financial compensation to the headquarters, which banned her from using the music and compositions she had made so far.

The Russian-born gymnast said she is not training at the moment. She plans to start training next week, when she will have already left Bulgaria.

“At the moment I’m not training. I plan to start training next week. I’m ready to start all over again. Now I’ll have to work even harder to make the new routines and work them out as quickly as possible. I already know with which trainer I will continue to work, but I can’t say her name yet,” she added.

Regarding the reaction of her former coach Svetlana Yurievna, Krasnobayeva commented: “The lady is also having a hard time with my decision, because we have worked with her a lot, but there is nothing we can do. There are such situations in life. We all need to calm down a little. I want to I’m on good terms with everyone. I want everything to be okay. I’m very grateful to all the coaches and people for their support. I don’t close the door to Bulgaria what will happen. I may come back to live here after a while.”
