Chavez is now up to ten years in prison; he has already been professionally banned. The 54-year-old is the third of five defendants in the case. Two defendants, another doctor and Jasveen Sangha, known as the “Ketamine Queen” in Hollywood circles, deny the allegations.
Doctors use Ketamine as an anesthetic and also to treat depression. Because of its hallucinogenic effects, it is also traded on the black market for drug users.
The US Attorney’s Office accuses the five defendants of taking advantage of Perry’s addiction problems to “enrich themselves.” Perry was found dead in the hot tub at his home in Los Angeles at the end of October last year. According to the coroner’s report, he died from “acute effects of ketamine.”
In the 1990s, Perry became famous for his role as the sarcastic joker Chandler Bing in the globally popular TV series “Friends”. In his autobiography published last year, Perry reported that he had struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for years.
