On October 3, Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, who is on an official visit to Minsk, met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Roman Golovchenko.
As Day.Az was informed by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, the heads of government held a meeting in a narrow format, which then continued in an expanded format with the participation of delegations from the two countries.
During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the high level of Azerbaijani-Belarusian interstate relations, and the dynamic development of mutually beneficial partnership in various fields was noted thanks to the joint efforts of the heads of state of the two countries.
In this regard, the importance of the state visit of the President of Belarus to Azerbaijan in May of this year was emphasized.
The heads of government discussed current issues of trade and economic cooperation between the countries. There was an increase in the volume of mutual trade based on the results of 8 months of this year, which amounted to 39 percent. Confidence was expressed that the trend towards increasing trade turnover will be supported.
It was emphasized that a significant impetus to multifaceted interaction was given by the joint decision of the heads of state to develop projects in a number of promising areas of mutual interest.
In this regard, special attention was paid to the implementation of agreements and instructions of the Presidents of the two countries. Satisfaction was expressed with the progress in developing specific projects in a number of areas, including industrial cooperation, the construction of agricultural towns in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, as well as in the field of vocational education.
Industrial cooperation was regarded as a key area of Azerbaijani-Belarusian cooperation, with special emphasis placed on long-term successful interaction between the Ganja Automobile Plant and leading Belarusian engineering enterprises.
The heads of government noted the stable development of cooperation in the field of agriculture and confirmed their mutual readiness to increase mutual supplies of agricultural products.
The parties advocated deepening cooperation in the transport and transit sector.
Satisfaction was expressed with the traditionally high level of cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The heads of government welcomed the intensification of cultural, scientific and youth exchanges, as well as the development of interaction in the field of education.
The parties also noted the expansion of interregional cooperation, as evidenced by the signing of agreements on the establishment of sister city relations between a number of cities of the two countries during the state visit of the President of Belarus.
Solid potential for developing cooperation in the field of tourism was noted.
Ali Asadov and Roman Golovchenko also discussed the prospects for further building up mutually beneficial cooperation and confirmed their readiness to actively work together on all topical issues of mutual interest for Azerbaijan and Belarus.
As a result of the negotiations, a number of documents were signed on the development of agricultural production in the Agdam region, cooperation in the healthcare sector, the design of an agricultural town in the village of Gyzyl Kengerli in the Agdam region and the supply of fire fighting equipment.
