Ongoing police investigation into offenders’ motives
Danish police are investigating two explosions near the Israeli embassy in a northern suburb of Copenhagen.
No injuries were reported and it is still too early for authorities to say the extent of the explosions, a police spokesman told reporters.
“It’s clear that the Israeli embassy is very close and of course, that’s also something we’re looking at,” said Copenhagen police deputy chief Jakob Hansen.
The Israeli embassy in Denmark has not yet commented on the incident.
An extensive area has been cordoned off by the police. Photos released by the tabloid Ekstra Bladet show heavily armed Danish soldiers guarding the Israeli embassy.
Teams, whose members wear special full-coverage suits, are searching the site of the explosions for evidence, the BT tabloid said
Several other embassies and consulates are also located in the area, such as those of Romania and Thailand, as well as those of Iran and Turkey, notes Agence France-Presse.
