Kolkata: An exciting Gokulam-Neroka match at Kalyani Stadium ended in a goalless draw. In a match where both teams were attacking from the start, there were several chances to score. However, the game ended in a draw.
Jithin created the first chance for Gokul in the 11th minute. But Jith’s shot hit the body of the Neroka defender and went wide. Gokul’s Jamaican Jordan Fletcher and Slovakian striker Luka created several chances but failed to find the target.
To sharpen the attack in the second half, Gokulam replaced coach Vincenzo Ronaldo Singh and brought down Sreekuttan. Despite a series of chances in the second half, the goal alone was not born.
The attacking Gokulam players delivered the ball to the Neroka box several times but were unable to overcome the opponents’ defense. “Despite many chances, we could not score a goal. Our defensive line played well but we can not go ahead without scoring goals,” Gokulam Kerala FC head coach Vincenzo Alberto said after the match.
Gokulam will take on Real Kashmir FC in their next match on Monday. The match will be played at the Kalyani Stadium in Kolkata.
