Atakan Karazor from VfB Stuttgart was called up for the Turkish national team for the first time shortly after his decision against the DFB team. The Bundesliga club’s captain is in the squad for the Nations League games against Montenegro (October 11) and three days later against Iceland. The 27-year-old midfielder, who was born in Essen, has German and Turkish citizenship.

The midfielder, who has been the Swabians’ captain since this season, has “taken on a very central role” at VfB Stuttgart. Karazor was “extremely instrumental” in ensuring that VfB developed so positively. Since Waldemar Anton’s departure in the summer, the 27-year-old has held the captaincy of the Swabians. Karazor has been playing for VfB since Stuttgart’s relegation in 2019 and achieved direct promotion with the team in 2020. Its market value is estimated at 12 million euros.
