Baku Cinema Breeze International Film Festival took place”/>
The grand opening of the International Film Festival took place at the Heydar Aliyev Center Baku Cinema Breezeorganized by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan with the support of the Cinema Agency (ARKA), Day.Az reports.
The festival, aimed at developing the audiovisual industry, is held within the framework of the Ministry of Culture’s “Creative Azerbaijan” (Yaradıcı Azərbaycan) project from October 2 to 8.
The ceremony was attended by government and public figures, representatives of culture and art, famous actors, directors and filmmakers, and foreign guests.
At the opening, Deputy Minister of Culture, People’s Artist Murad Huseynov noted that the festival is held with the aim of presenting Azerbaijan as the center of the film industry in the region and developing cinematic culture.
Advisor to the Secretary General of TÜRKSOY Kairat Mukanov noted significant achievements in the film industry of Azerbaijan, noting that such events, in addition to supporting joint projects, will create conditions for exchange between producers who determine the film industry market and will support joint projects.
Head of the Department of Creative Industries and Digital Development of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan Rashad Azizov noted that the festival will contribute to accelerating processes in the film industry and will attract relevant companies to joint projects.
Baku Cinema Breeze will play the role of a unified network for demonstrating the masterpieces of world cinema, uniting a number of well-known festivals that have until now been organized separately.
Directors of the International Documentary Film Festival DokuBaku Imam Hasanov, the International Animation Festival Animafilm Rashid Agamaliyev, the International Festival of Animated Films of the Turkic World Ata Oktay Yusibov and the Baku International Film Festival Fehruz Shamiev emphasized the importance of implementing a major project, which will become a new platform for integration into world cinema.
As part of the event, the film award “For a Green World”, established by ARKA, was presented. Deputy Minister of Culture Saadet Yusifova presented an award to director Mozhitaba Bahaduriy for his contribution to the global climate agenda with the film “On melting snow”.
For “Contribution to the development of the animation film industry” awards were presented to Mesud Penakhi (Azerbaijan), Mavzur Makhmudov (Uzbekistan), Salimgali Mirzashev (Kazakhstan), Kanaibek Omurbekov (Kyrgyzstan), Myodzhek Charyev (Turkmenistan), Berat Ilk (Turkey) and Elchin Akhundov ( Azerbaijan). Among the laureates is the outstanding Soviet and Russian director and screenwriter of documentary films Evgeny Tsymbal, who was awarded the award “For his contribution to the development of documentary cinema.”
The host of the evening was Honored Artist Elnur Kerimov.
It should be noted that Baku Cinema Breeze will bring together representatives of the film industry from the USA, Canada, India, the Netherlands, Turkey, Germany, Portugal, the UAE, Greece, Korea, Georgia, Estonia and other countries, as well as famous figures in world cinema. Omarket (Eastern Film Market) will be organized, which will play the role of an important platform for presenting films from Eastern countries to the world. Film screenings are organized at the Nizami cinema centers, CineMastercard Azerbaijan, YARAT Contemporary Art Space, Kapellhouse Baku, Landmark and YAY Gallery. Entry is free.
