The end of AMKA and TIN is coming – The personal number will be the “key” to all public services

by time news

Without an AMKA and VAT number, citizens’ transactions with the State will take place very soon, with Demosthenes Anagnostopoulos, Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital Governance giving the basic parameters.

“There are thousands of appointments on the new id.gov.gr platform (…). More than 100,000 appointments have been booked for the next period. I will tell you in principle that we must put the personal number on the identity card so that it can identify the citizen. The personal number will be a way in which we will be able to address any public service with one number” says (ERTNews) the government official.

He also says that “there will be no need to remember AMKA, tax registration number or anything” but our transactions will be processed with one number. “Wherever we go, we will say this number and we will be able to attend anywhere in the public sector.”

“First, insert the ID card”

This means, he said, that the infrastructure for the personal number must be in place “They are ready, but there should be the possibility to enter the identity. This has issues which we are now resolving with the Data Protection Authority. There is one aspect related to the use of the number by public services. We are fixing this horizontal spread and almost everything is ready to present the plan,” he said.

The general secretary also noted that “with the personal number, a problem we face in every family will be solved, that is, that a person can have different information in different public registers. This will be resolved with the personal number. In addition, with the mobile phone we do all our transactions. This means that these transactions should be secure, either with the bank or the government. We should be able to receive a message on our mobile phone to confirm that we are making the transaction.”

He explained that “we will have to register our mobile phone in the National Communications Registry, so that we know that every secure transaction we make with the Greek public administration will have an additional notification, confirming that we are making the transaction” .
