Jakarta – Candidate for Deputy Governor (Cawagub) of Jakarta number 1, Jam says the use of the abbreviation regional election debate Jakarta 2024 is too naive. If he uses abbreviations, he believes that the debate will lack the substance of the ideas.

“I think it’s too much, it’s too naive to capture it with abbreviations that reduce the substance of the idea,” Suswono told journalists at the DKI DPRD Building, Kebon Sirih, Jakarta, Friday (4/10/2024 ).

Suswono emphasized that if abbreviations are needed, they need to be explained. Because abbreviations can also have different meanings.

“If the name is an abbreviation it should be explained, both are abbreviations but they can also have different meanings, right? I think it’s natural that it’s not like that,” he said.

Previously, the Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) asked the candidates for orientation and cawagub not to use unfamiliar terms during the debate. The KPU ensures that similar information has been communicated to all candidate pairs competing in the Jakarta Pilkada 2024.

According to DKI Jakarta KPUD’s Head of Socialization, Voter Educator and Community Engagement, Astri Megatari, this needs to be pointed out considering that unfamiliar terms may come up during the question and answer segment.

“So for the fourth and fifth segment, this is a question and answer segment between pairs of candidates. We have some guidelines that we have given to the candidate pair teams, including not using abbreviations or uncommon terms, right ,” Astri said on Thursday (3/10/2024).
