This year, the exciting and patriotic obstacle course competition will take place for the tenth time in the beautiful active recreation area Mežaparks, thus celebrating the first round anniversary. In 2020 and 2021, the competition was moved to August, but then “Lāčplēšu Cross” took place in October and September, returning to the autumn side. This year, too, it will take place at the usual time – in October.

As always, the organizers offer the participants to compete in three distances – for children in the Laimdota distance (from 300m to 700m), and for the rest either in the Lāčplēša 4km or Bruņinieks 12km distance, where the 4km circle will have to be completed three times, thus overcoming the installed obstacles three times and making the competition more exciting tracks to the spectators and supporters on the sidelines. As every year, the organizers have made sure that various activities take place in the center of the competition and that the appropriate thematic atmosphere of “Lāčplēšu cross” prevails.

This year, the track will be similar to the new track introduced in 2022, which has been changed compared to previous years. Since it will usually start and end at Mežapark’s “Forest Cat”, will wind through Mežapark’s paths and paths, will reach Ķīšezer, then at least one kilometer will walk along the shore of the lake, but on the way back, the participants will be able to run up to the Great Stage again.

The course will have to overcome natural obstacles, for example, sand flats, roots, forest terrain, as well as artificial obstacles. The participants of the “Lācplėš cross” will overcome interesting thematic obstacles in a sporty and patriotic spirit, such as “The Little Mountain Goat”, “The Big Danger Mountain”, “Wolf’s Gate”, “Swamp Wader”, “Wet Sprīdītis”, “Lācplēša Belt”, “Spidala’s Trap” , “Olympic Circles”, “Conqueror of the Stage”, etc. The last of the mentioned obstacles will be the opportunity to run to the very top of the Stage, where the Song Festival concerts are always held. This year, too, the distance and obstacles have been designed in such a way that every fan of active recreation can complete the distance without the help of other people.

The competition will take place on a marked track – the track is marked with a demarcation tape and arrows indicating the running direction. At each of the obstacles there will be competition judges who will monitor the correct execution of the obstacle.
