Singer Rain reunited in the United States with a close friend from his time at Anyang Arts High School.
On the 3rd, a video titled ‘Ra (Jeong Ji-hoon), who met Anyang Arts High School alumnus who became a self-made chef with sales of 30 billion won in the United States, was posted on the YouTube channel ‘Season, Rain Season’.
Rain said, “Today, my friend from when I was young was really successful in LA. Going to meet a high school classmate. This guy runs a few restaurants of his own. Sales will be tens of billions of won. “I think he’s the most successful among my classmates,” he said.
Rain, who met a classmate, said, “Alumni can be very surprising. “I don’t know much about its success in the U.S. right now,” he said. The alumni runs four restaurants in LA, Irvine, and San Francisco.
Rain said to his classmate, “What’s really cool about me is that number 1 is that I’m rich, and number 2 is that I’m a really hard-working type. After working in an American restaurant, he became fully established and managed several of his own restaurants. “It’s not easy to set it up in America,” he praised.
The classmate said, “I came to America to study.” I originally majored in directing at Anyang Arts High School. After coming to the U.S., he went to UCLA to major in directing, but then quit and started ‘Le Cordon Bleu.’ Did you know that he studied cooking there and then became ‘Nobu’? There is a rather famous chef named ‘Nobu Matsuhisa’. “I’m Japanese,” he explained.
Rain said, “Nobu Restaurant is the most successful Japanese restaurant in history in the United States. “I started doing odd jobs there,” he said.
The classmate said, “I was the first Korean to work there. “While working and learning from that person, I was sponsored for a green card and went to San Francisco to open my own store,” he said.
Rain said, “I’ve been away from him for the past 20 years, but recently 4 years ago? “I saw it three years ago,” he said, and his classmate said, “I really saw it at the market by chance.” At first, I didn’t see it, but my wife did. “I just looked at the report and said, ‘He’s my friend’, and Jihoon is there,” he said, recalling the time they met by chance.
Rain said, “Honestly, I thought to myself, ‘It looks like he’s gotten older and wants to come here and start now.’ But I’m talking about opening a few restaurants. I just got the address and went there, and it turned out to be a high-end restaurant. I just walked in, but the place was really crowded. “The food was so delicious, the atmosphere was so good, and I was so proud to see with my own eyes that things were going well,” he confessed.
Regarding sales, the alumni said, “Yesterday’s daily sales in Korean money were 30 million won,” and “the Irvine branch’s sales were 45 million won. If you combine the two and the third, you get 100 million won per day. “It’s just pure sales,” he said, causing surprise.
The staff member asked, “If you don’t mind, how much is your annual sales?” The alumni responded, “If we only have 3 stores, it’s over 30 billion won. My wife also had a hard time. When it first opened (15 years ago), I made a lot of money in San Francisco. “I earned a huge amount of money, but earning money at such a young age opened my eyes to other things, so I suddenly decided to do something and lost my money on that,” he recalled a painful memory.
When Rain asked, “What did you do?” the classmate confessed, “I said I was going to build a building in downtown San Francisco, but it went wrong and I lost all the money.”
He continued, “I had bad thoughts, but this isn’t it. I shouldn’t die. With this spirit, I wanted to try something, so I worked as a hotel chef, paid off all the money little by little, and opened this place. After that, I thought I shouldn’t do something I don’t know,” and Rain said, “What’s really cool is that I lost everything I’d done for 7 to 8 years. Among successful people, nothing just happens. “There is a reason and there is a trial for everything.”
Regarding the total assets, the classmate said, “I think it’s around 50 to 60 billion won.”
