The announcement was made on September 14, 2024 during a press briefing in Yaoundé.
“Digitization of the procedures of the Order of Physicians: Objectives and methods”, this is the theme that furnished the umpteenth National Council of the Order last weekend at the ONMC headquarters in Yaoundé. On the sidelines of this activity a press briefing was given by Dr Rodolphe Fonkoua, President of the Order. In response to the challenges encountered since their election, the Council decided to fully digitalize administrative procedures.
« When we were elected, we encountered enormous difficulties in establishing a precise list of doctors in Cameroon. It was a disaster not to know how many of us there were.”regrets the President of the ONMC. This observation led the Council, the day after the elections, to resolve to digitalize all procedures before the end of the year. “We will now be able to say exactly how many doctors practice in Cameroon, including those from the diaspora. From today, all procedures, whether registration, request for private client practice or certifications, will be done online and in real time”reassures Dr Fonkoua.
Note that this progress is made possible thanks to a digital system which allows each doctor, wherever they are, to access their personal account. With a simple code, each doctor will be able to consult their contribution situation and submit requests to the Order, with a guaranteed response within 48 hours. However, recalled the President of the Order, the success of this operation depends on the commitment of all stakeholders concerned.
Several resolutions were adopted at the end of this Council, among others, we can cite the upcoming association of the Order of Physicians with the practical training of doctors; the facilitation of procedures for those from the diaspora wishing to practice in Cameroon, as well as legal assistance in the event of difficulty, for doctors adjourned to the Omnc.
