Jammu: In another close encounter, Konark Surya Odisha banked on a strong innings from Kevin O’Brien and some impressive bowling performances to register their second win in the Legends League Cricket 2024 (LLC). They defeated India Capitals by 5 runs at the Molana Azad Stadium in Jammu on Friday. Konark Surya Odisha, who came to bat first after losing the toss, were started by Richard Levi and Jesse Ryder. The team could only score 12/2 in 3.3 overs. Levi scored just 1 run in 3 balls, while Ryder added 3 runs in 10 balls. Kevin O’Brien and Dilshan Munaweera added 77 runs for the third wicket. Munaweera was out to Iqbal Abdullah after scoring 33 runs in 44 balls.
Kevin O’Brien completed his fifty and remained unbeaten on 55 runs in 46 balls. Yusuf Pathan scored 12 runs on 13 balls. Konark Surya Odisha scored a total of 127 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs. For India Capitals, Iqbal Abdul was the best of the bowlers, taking figures of 3/16 in 4 overs. Dhawal Kulkarni took 1/22 in 4 overs.
India Capitals could score only 122 runs
Chasing the target of 128 runs, Dwayne Smith and Faiz Fazal opened the innings for India Capitals. They suffered an early setback when they lost their first two wickets for just 12 runs. Captain Ian Bell could score only 10 runs in 13 balls. Bharat Chipli was the only batsman who did well in the middle overs.
