“Only 11 days left until the 15th TeamGym European Championship, which will be held in Baku for the first time.”

As reported by İdman.biz, this was stated by the head of the Technical Committee for TeamGym of European Gymnastics, Per Sjostrand, talking about the main start of the season, which will take place on October 16-19 at the National Gymnastics Arena.

He said that 541 participants, divided into 46 teams, will compete at the European Championships.

“304 seniors and 237 juniors will represent the following 14 countries: Austria, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden,” Sjostrand emphasized.

He also highlighted the upcoming European Championship stars. “The nomination list includes 7 members of the 2022 All-Star Team: Nicole Hosseini (Sweden), Brindis Guðnadóttir (Iceland), Agnes Arvidsson (Sweden), Asta Kristinsdóttir (Iceland), Holly Barbour (UK), Tofik Aliyev (Azerbaijan) and Connor Wharram (UK). Aliyev won a silver medal at the European Tumbling Championships this year. He, along with Adil Hajizadeh, co-authored the historic achievement of the Azerbaijani tumbling team, which won gold at the 2023 World Championships.

Our 2022 star Tabea Zirnig (Austria) is also on the list. To our delight, we can welcome another host team from last year’s edition of Luxembourg, keeping the legacy alive. And while some are making their debut at international competitions, others can boast extensive experience of participating in numerous European Championships. The personal registration includes the name of a gymnast who already competed in a TeamGym event in 2006 in Ostrava (Czech Republic), Joao Peixinho Ferreira from Portugal,” noted Sjostrand.
